Reconnecting with yourself or others

Finding your way back to contact, trust, and presence

Losing connection with yourself or with others can happen gradually or suddenly. You may notice feeling emotionally numb, disconnected, overwhelmed, or distant in relationships. Sometimes it feels as though you are going through life on autopilot, no longer fully present.

This loss of connection can develop through prolonged stress, trauma, burnout, depression, or significant life changes. Over time, you may lose touch with your emotions, your needs, your boundaries, and what truly matters to you.

Therapy offers a space to slow down, to listen inwardly, and to gently restore contact — both with yourself and with the people around you.

When the connection feels difficult

You may recognise one or more of the following experiences:

  • feeling emotionally distant or shut down
  • difficulty expressing needs or emotions
  • recurring tension or misunderstandings in relationships
  • feeling unseen, misunderstood, or alone
  • struggling to feel joy, intimacy, or engagement

Disconnection often serves a protective purpose. At some point, withdrawing or numbing may have helped you cope. Yet what once protected you may now limit your capacity for connection and aliveness.

In therapy, we approach disconnection with respect, curiosity, and care.

What therapy can offer you?

Therapy focuses on restoring awareness, contact, and integration. It can support you in:

  • reconnecting with your emotions and bodily signals
  • understanding patterns that interrupt contact
  • developing trust and emotional safety
  • learning to express yourself more authentically
  • strengthening boundaries and self-support
  • creating more meaningful relationships

Connection is not something that can be forced — it grows when there is safety, presence, and understanding.

How I work

Gestalt therapy emphasises the here and now. We explore how connection unfolds — or breaks — in the present moment.

Our work may include:

  • increasing awareness of inner experience
  • exploring how you relate to others
  • noticing bodily responses in contact
  • experimenting with new ways of expressing yourself
  • integrating emotional experiences

Therapy becomes a place where connection can be experienced, reflected upon, and gradually restored.

Taking the first step

If you feel disconnected from yourself or others, this does not mean something is wrong with you. It means something important needs attention.

You are welcome to get in touch by phone or via the contact form.
Together, we can work towards restoring contact, trust, and a sense of being fully present in your life.
